The NPF’s invitation and response to recent allegations are available in a statement by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi. The Police encourage the complainant and anyone with relevant information regarding the matter to contact the Force Public Relations Officer directly via phone at 08037168147.
Additionally, we invite anyone else with information, including the blogger, Diamond Dietanuru Osakorigho of Pararan Mock News, who went ahead to attack the IGP’s personality using abusive words on social media platforms without bothering to make findings and verify issues on the incident in Rivers State Police Command. We encourage individuals with information to come forward and assist in the investigation.”
Furthermore, the police are advising the public to exercise caution and verify the authenticity of individuals claiming to represent senior police officers in any unwholesome venture. They are committed to ensuring transparency and have arrested and prosecuted some individuals involved in fraudulent acts. They urge individuals to report any suspicious or fraudulent activity involving police officers to the NPF and the Force Public Relations Officer or the Complaint Response Unit (CRU) desk.
Human rights activist Israel Joe, who wrote the petition regarding the extortion by the Rivers State Command, responded by stating that he welcomes any investigation but is surprised that the focus appears to be on issues that gave rise to the extortion rather than the extortion itself. He expresses his determination to continue pushing for justice and emphasizes the importance of an open and fair investigation. Joe raises concerns about trusting the police to conduct a fair trial in this matter.
