Emeka Beke, the recently reinstated Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, has affirmed that the 27 lawmakers who defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC in December 2023 remain firmly with the party.
Beke shared this during a press briefing on Monday, following a court ruling that reinstated him as the APC Chairman.

He clarified that Martin Amaewhule, along with 26 other lawmakers who are aligned with Minister Nyesom Wike, are still recognized as legitimate members of the APC in Rivers State.
In addition, Beke confirmed that the APC will actively participate in the upcoming local government elections in the state. He took a moment to commend the judiciary, emphasizing its crucial role in safeguarding Nigeria’s democracy.

This development follows the dissolution of Beke’s executive committee by the APC’s national working committee, led by Abdullahi Ganduje, in November 2023. The committee had cited allegations of anti-party activities during the general election as the reason for the dissolution.
