3 Killed, Others Abducted As Terrorists Attack Niger Communities

Three people were killed and three others were kidnapped in an attack on Kuta town in the Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State by suspected terrorists.

The attack occurs just 24 hours after terrorists killed the councillor for the Shiroro LGA’s Allawa ward.

When the terrorists invaded some of the nearby communities surrounding Kuta town, the local government chairman, Akilu Kuta, managed to avoid being kidnapped.

The Niger State All Progressives Congress assistant youth leader, Suleiman Galkogo, and the council boss, who were traveling to Minna via the Egwa-Kuta road, narrowly escaped the attack while their vehicle was hit by gunfire.

A woman and her daughter-in-law from the Bmanape community were among those taken hostage.

According to reports, the terrorists stole a number of cattle and blocked the highway at the village of Egwa, forcing drivers to quickly turn around when they were spotted.

The incident compelled the Shiroro local government chairman to impose a curfew in Gwada and its surroundings from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
