Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office: Buhari appoints Nkom for second term
The second and final four-year term of Engr. Obadiah Simon Nkom as Director General of the Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office has been approved by President Muhammadu Buhari and will begin on January 12, 2023.
This was revealed in a statement released on Tuesday by Femi Adesina, the president’s spokesman.

Nkom was initially appointed on January 12th, 2019, for a four-year initial term.
Under Nkom’s direction, the Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office has seen an 86% increase in revenue generation over the past four years, bringing in over N8.9 billion between 2019 and 2021 compared to N4.8 billion during the same period of 2016 to 2018.

Additionally, this accounts for about 50% of the economy-wide contribution made by the Ministry of Mines and Steel Development.
