Arriving at Akure Airport via a commercial airline, Aiyedatiwa was warmly welcomed by a prominent figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Director of Corporate Affairs at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Ifedayo Abegunde.
The House of Assembly confirmed the reception of a letter from Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, officially transmitting power to Aiyedatiwa.
Governor Akeredolu’s letter also disclosed his plan to take a medical leave, further emphasizing the temporary leadership transition.
Governor Akeredolu’s absence had triggered political tension within the state, prompting calls for adherence to constitutional provisions by transferring power to Aiyedatiwa during the governor’s medical leave.
The situation had also led to a division among members of the State Executive Council, with some commissioners aligning themselves with Aiyedatiwa.
In a concerning turn of events, there were allegations of officials forging the governor’s signature during this period of political uncertainty.
