Akin Osuntokun, a former presidential aide, has been named the new Director-General (DG) of the Labour Party’s Presidential Campaign Council (PCC).
Osuntokun succeeds Doyin Okupe as the director-general of the campaign council for the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

1) Akin Osuntokun, a political scientist, strategist, researcher, administrator, journalist, and writer from Nigeria, was born on November 24, 1961.
2) Osuntokun, was a former managing director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN),
3) He has expertise in policy research and implementation, and political analysis.
4) Between 1999 to 2007, Akin Osuntokun served as President Olusegun Obasanjo’s political advisor.
5) 2011 saw Mr. Osuntokun take on the role of Director of the People’s Democratic Party’s Presidential Campaign for the 2011 general elections.
His appointment as the director general of the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council, which will oversee the 2023 presidential campaign of a former governor of Anambra State, was announced by the Labour Party on December 27, 2022.

Recall that On December 19, 2022, Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of a Federal High Court in Abuja declared Okupe guilty of violating the Money Laundering Act by accepting more than N200 million in cash from former National Security Adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki.
In counts 34, 35, 36, and 59, the court found Okupe guilty, and he was given a sentence of two years in prison with the possibility of a fine.
