Senate President Godswill Akpabio, House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas, and Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike are among 40 distinguished Nigerians set to receive the 2024 Nigerian Excellence Awards in Public Service (NEAPS). The ceremony will take place in Abuja on Saturday, July 6.

Collaboration and Announcement: The NEAPS 2024 event is organized by The Best Strategic PR (TBS) in partnership with the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF). TBS Communications Officer Caroline Yovchevska announced the awards, noting that President Bola Tinubu will present them. The awards categories cover excellence in infrastructure service delivery, urban renewal, financial innovation, healthcare delivery, digital innovation, outstanding reform initiative, security management, and transparency and open governance.
Governors and Top Officials: Seven state governors are among the awardees: Peter Mbah (Enugu), Muhammad Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe), Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa), Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa), Mohammed Bago (Niger), and Dapo Abiodun (Ogun).
Additional Honorees: Other notable recipients include Nigeria Customs Service Comptroller-General Wale Adeniyi, CBN Governor Yemi Cardoso, FIRS Executive Chairman Zach Adedeji, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, former SGF Boss Mustapha, National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, NNPC GCEO Mele Kyari, EFCC Chair Olanipekun Olukoyede, NASENI Executive Vice Chairman Khalil Suleiman Halilu, House of Representatives members James Faleke and Aliyu Betara, and Senator Musa Sanni.
Military and Corporate Leaders: The list also includes CDS General Christopher Musa, CDI Major General Epa Undiandeye, Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, Chief of Naval Staff Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, Dangote Group President Aliko Dangote, NITDA DG Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, Nigerians in Diaspora Commission Chair Abike Dabiri, and Borno State Commissioner Zuwaira Gambo.
Security and Administration Officials: Additional awardees are DSS Director-General Yusuf Bichi, Solid Minerals Minister Dele Alake, NIA DG Amb. Ahmed Rufai Abubakar, President’s Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila, retired federal permanent secretary Olusegun Adekunle, Justice Minister and Attorney General Lateef Fagbemi, Deputy Chief of Staff to the President Ibrahim Hadejia, Dr. Nnamdi Maurice Mbaeri, and Danda Lawal.
Selection Process and Purpose: Yovchevska emphasized that the recipients were selected through a stringent process evaluating their contributions to their states, communities, and agencies. NEAPS aims to inspire greater patriotism, promote innovation, and recognize individuals leading in efficient public service delivery.
