Why Apapa won’t be at Monday Tribunal — Arabambi
Dr. Abayomi Arabambi, the suspended acting publicity secretary of the Labour Party (LP), stated that the Deputy National Chairman of the Labour Party, Lamidi Apapa, will not appear before the Presidential Election Tribunal today, May 23.
According to him, neither Apapa nor any of his supporters will appear before the Presidential Election Tribunal (PET) today (Monday), as they are engaged in a membership drive for the Northwest Labour Party.
In an interview with Newsmen, Arabambi stated that a large number of the party’s Northwest members had defected, thereby reducing the stakeholder support from that axis and requiring Apapa and his group to attempt to woo them back into the fold.
“We will not attend tomorrow’s (today’s) Presidential Election Tribunal hearing.
“We are in the Northwest for a stakeholder meeting to bring together all former Party members from the North.”
“Many of them have left the party, and we are attempting to bring them back, including our governorship candidates in Sokoto and Zamfara, as well as some aspirants for the National and State Legislative Houses, because of Peter Obi’s indifference.”
“They stated that he does not consult with them, even when he visits their state. No agents were paid, the party’s finances were unclear, and there were no ward or local government secretariats.

“These individuals have recently left, so we are attempting to woo them back. We will return to Abuja on Wednesday, said Arabambi to the Nigerian Tribune.
Pastor Obiora Ifoh, Acting National Publicity Secretary of the Labour Party, stated that the Labour Party has been attending the Presidential Election Tribunal (PET) and that neither the party nor its Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi, would be prevented from attending the Tribunal.
He stated that the party was Obi’s campaign platform, and since the two are intertwined in this case, it is in the party’s best interest to attend the court proceedings.
According to Obiora, “From day one, we have been attending court. Obi is not an independent candidate; he ran as a member of the Labour Party. Our lawyers are there; why won’t we be?
“There is no Labour Party under Abure; there is only One Labour Party, and its national chairman is Julius Abure.” Consequently, the Labour Party would be present at the Tribunal.
“This question is irrelevant because the Labour Party brought the matter to court, so it will be heard there.”
