The Zonal Vice Chairmen had accused the Governor of humiliating the party and isolating its leaders and stakeholders, sparking a contentious exchange.
In an official statement on his verified social media page, Chief Press Secretary Tersoo Kula characterized the claims made by the Zonal Vice Chairmen as an “amalgamation of fabrications” aimed at blackmailing the Governor.
Kula specifically addressed allegations regarding the appointment of caretaker chairmen, party dissatisfaction, and the legitimacy of a meeting attended by notable party figures.

The statement emphasized the lack of evidence supporting the accusations, dismissing them as products of a “psychotic imagination” and emphasizing the Governor’s prerogative to scrutinize suggested names for caretaker chairmen.
Furthermore, the Chief Press Secretary called attention to the alleged formation and funding of a committee with a mandate to spread falsehoods against the party and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF). Kula condemned the desperation behind such fabrications and defended the impeccable reputation of the implicated party chieftains.
Interestingly, the statement pointed out inconsistencies in the narrative presented by the accusers, highlighting a contradiction between claims of discontent and a later declaration of staunch support for Governor Alia.

In a final twist, the Governor’s camp addressed accusations that he had not made financial contributions to the party, challenging the accusers to produce evidence and demanding to review the party’s financial records.
While Governor Alia expressed a commitment to uniting Benue State and developing it across sectors, the ongoing internal strife within the Benue APC raises questions about the party’s unity and future cohesion.
As both sides stand firm in their positions, the political landscape in Benue State remains tense, with potential implications for the APC’s standing and influence in the region.
