APC Senator Faces Recall as Constituents Demand Action Over Alleged Ties to Bandits, Questions Raised About His Origin.
Senator Shehu Buba, representing the South Senatorial District of Bauchi State, is embroiled in a scandal linking him to individuals with alleged terrorist ties in Northern Nigeria, sparking a strong grassroots movement for his recall.
The controversy gained momentum following reports of Abubakar Idris, a known terrorist figure, who was apprehended on August 17, 2024. Idris allegedly implicated Senator Buba, leading to widespread outrage in his constituency.
In response, a formal recall process has commenced, with increasing numbers of registered voters signing a petition demanding accountability from the senator.
Compounding the issue, new revelations have emerged about Senator Buba’s origins, calling into question his identity as a true Bauchi indigene. Reports suggest that the All Progressives Congress (APC) senator may originally be from Barkin Ladi Local Government Area in Plateau State.
A local community leader, who chose to remain anonymous, expressed disappointment: “We thought he was one of us, but he’s not even a Bauchi indigene,” he said during an interview.
