Jalingo APC chairman suspended

Members of the All Proessives Congress party executives in the council have suspended Alhaji Bashir Bakari, the chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in Jalingo.

Following a vote of no confidence in him on Sunday in Jalingo, the capital of Taraba state, he was suspended.

The action was required as a result of the chairman’s actions, which the executive felt were harmful to the party, according to the statement that was read and made available to newsmen.

It has become evidently clear that Bashir Bakari’s activities and actions are detrimental to the overall interest of the party at the ward, local government, and state levels, according to the party’s Public Relations Officer (PRO) in the council, Mohammed Dahiru.

They claimed that the embattled chairman’s actions toward the party and its members are wholly “contrary to the party’s constitution,” citing Article 21(1)(lll)(V)(Vll) of the party’s constitution.

They went on to accuse the chairman of “handpicking without adherence to the provisions of the party constitution when summoning for a meeting” after questioning why he had not strictly followed the party’s established rules.

They were outraged by these actions and stated that “Bashir Bakari’s biases and dictatorial tendencies have created discord, particularly among the youths who are known to be the party’s foot soldiers and who make up the majority of the party’s age group.”

In addition, they claimed that his actions “have forced some prominent Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members to openly state that they have already pocketed APC chairman of Jalingo local government council.”

While promising to change their ways, the chairman was accused in their letter of showing “gross misconduct to the party and in violation of the party constitution” by some of the party’s stakeholders.

The troubled chairman quickly responded by telling newsmen that the suspension would be invalid “because all due process was not followed.”

He urged the party’s adherents to disregard the alleged suspension, which he believed would not come to pass, by alleging that it was by some individuals who, in his opinion, do not have the party’s best interests at heart.
