APC Warns Godwin Obaseki to Cease Incitement and Blame Game on Edo people

In a recent press statement issued on Tuesday morning, the All Progressives Congress (APC) has cautioned Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, against inciting the public against President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

The party also accused the governor of attempting to blame the Federal Government for the deplorable state of Edo’s roads as a means to evade accountability for his “incompetence.”

Governor Obaseki’s earlier statement, made through his Special Adviser on Media Projects, Crusoe Osagie, laid responsibility for the dilapidated condition of federal roads and the hardships faced by the people on the Federal Government.

The governor cited the removal of petrol subsidy, leading to a surge in essential commodity prices, as one of the factors contributing to the suffering of the populace.

However, the APC, represented by Blessing Agbomhere, the publicity secretary South-South Zonal Organising Secretary, asserted that Governor Obaseki had found a convenient scapegoat in President Tinubu’s new administration, which has been in power for less than three months.

The party emphasized that President Tinubu’s administration had prioritized the removal of burdensome fuel subsidies, which have been a considerable drain on the federal revenue.

The APC further pointed out that Governor Obaseki’s tenure of over seven years had yielded little in terms of achievements, and he was merely overshadowed by the developmental strides of his predecessor, former president of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Adams Oshiomhole.

The warning from the APC comes amid an escalating war of words between the Edo State governor and the ruling party, raising concerns about the political climate in the region.
