Appeal Court to Deliver Judgement on Rivers State Assembly Crisis Today
The Appeal Court in Port Harcourt is set to deliver a crucial judgement today in a case that could potentially resolve the ongoing crisis at the Rivers State House of Assembly.
The suit seeks to reverse the order that restrained Martin Amaewhule and 26 other lawmakers from carrying out legislative duties and occupying their seats.
The decision of the court is eagerly awaited as it could bring an end to the prolonged dispute in the legislative chamber.

The lawmakers, led by Amaewhule, are challenging a previous High Court ruling that upheld Victor Oko-Jumbo as the factional Speaker of the assembly. Justice Dagogo Jack’s ruling earlier favoured Oko-Jumbo, imposing an interlocutory injunction against Amaewhule and his colleagues.
Following extensive arguments presented on Thursday, a panel of three Appeal Court judges, headed by Justice Jimi Olukayode-Bada, announced their readiness to deliver the judgement today.
All legal representatives involved in the case have been directed to be present in court by 9 a.m., anticipating a pivotal decision that could significantly impact the political landscape in Rivers State.
