Ahead of the September 21 governorship election in Edo State, Prince Felix Abubakar Isuku, a member of the Asue Ighodalo Campaign Council, has resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Isuku is the latest in a series of PDP chieftains to leave the party before the polls.

His resignation was detailed in a letter addressed to the PDP state chairman and other officials on Friday. Isuku, a three-time Executive Director of the Edo State Internal Revenue Service under both Governor Godwin Obaseki and his predecessor, Comrade Governor Adams Aliu Oshiomhole, cited the party’s internal power struggle and factionalization as reasons for his departure.
In the resignation letter, Isuku explained, “The high level of power struggle that started with the fractionalization of the party has evolved into an unprecedented and unending faction or political divide that has continued to affect the internal politics of the party. Additionally, the continued megalomaniac attitude of some party leaders cannot be overlooked.”
Isuku further noted his loss of confidence in the party’s leadership and its ability to win credible elections. He stated, “I have worked tirelessly for the PDP using my personal resources and influence to wholeheartedly support the party, especially during electoral processes. However, my interests and ideologies are no longer aligned with that of the party.”
Previously, Isuku served as the PDP Leader of Wards 3 and 4 of Ihievbe, and was a prominent leader in Owan East and West Local Governments. His resignation includes stepping down from all party responsibilities, including his role in Dr. Asue Ighodalo’s campaign committee.
