Bandits Invade Kebbi and Sokoto, Forcing Seven Villages to Evacuate.

 

In a distressing turn of events, bandits have launched attacks on seven villages, displacing residents in the border regions of Sokoto and Kebbi states. The Kebbi government has taken swift action to provide relief materials to the affected victims who have sought refuge in Jarkuka village in Arewa Local Government Area (LGA) of Kebbi.

According to Yakubu Ahmed-BK, the Information Commissioner, the attacks targeted two villages in Kebbi and five in Sokoto, all situated along the border of the two states. Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State responded promptly upon learning of the attacks in this border region.

Mr. Ahmed-BK conveyed the government’s commitment to assisting the displaced victims, stating, “We are in this village on behalf of His Excellency, Governor Nasir Idris, to distribute relief materials to displaced victims of bandits’ attacks. The governor, upon receiving the news of the attack around this axis of border villages between Kebbi and Sokoto state, swung into action.

He went on to describe the relief materials being distributed, which include bags of millet, rice, and beans, as well as mats, detergents, buckets, and seasonings. These emergency measures aim to alleviate the suffering of the affected people, who have been forced to flee their homes.

While many of the victims are from Sokoto, Mr. Ahmed-BK emphasized that the government is dedicated to treating all affected individuals equally. He acknowledged the challenges of reaching everyone and noted that this initial relief effort is just the beginning. The government plans to assess the situation and expects to provide further assistance to the displaced residents in the near future.
