Bandits who stormed a police outpost in the Magami town of Gusau, the state capital, stole the cellphones of some police officers who were on duty in Zamfara State.
As a result of the terrorists’ relentless strikes, a number of inhabitants have left the neighbourhood.
Magami is one of the areas of Zamfara State that has been devastated by violence.
According to a source who spoke with newsmen, the bandits attacked the neighbourhood on Wednesday at around 3:40 p.m. and stole the police officers’ cellphones before fleeing into the nearby bush while firing into the air to frighten bystanders.
“Bandits stormed the Magami Divisional Police Station in the Gusau LGA of Zamfara State, stole the police officers’ on-duty phones and other valuables, fired warning shots, and then fled. The incident took place today at 3:40 PM.
According to the source, the terrorists broke into the police station with the goal of releasing one of them who was being held there.
He said that the suspect had been sent to the state police’s main office for protection after the incident.
SP When questioned about the incident, Muhammad Shehu, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), denied that anything of the sort occurred.
