Protest in Ondo over naira crisis

Protests have erupted in Akure, the capital of Ondo State, as a result of commercial banks’ refusal to accept old naira notes from customers and issue new ones.

The protest was initiated at the First Bank, Alagbaka by irate clients who had waited for several hours without being assisted.

Other banks in Akure have ceased operations to avoid an attack.

The enraged protesters also blocked roadways.
