Benjamin Mendy is suing Manchester City.
Former Manchester City left-back Benjamin Mendy is embroiled in a legal battle with the club, seeking substantial compensation in a “multi-million-pound” claim related to alleged unpaid wages.
The 29-year-old faced serious legal accusations of rape and sexual assault in August 2021, prompting his suspension by the treble-winning team pending trial. The charges stemmed from an incident at his Cheshire home nine months prior.
Benjamin Mendy, vehemently denying all allegations, finally saw a legal resolution in January 2023. He was acquitted of seven counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault at Chester Crown Court, with a jury unable to reach a verdict on an additional charge. A retrial in June ultimately cleared him of all charges.

During this tumultuous period, Mendy revealed in court that Manchester City ceased payment of his £100,000-per-week wages in September 2021. Subsequently, he was released on a free transfer in the summer after the expiration of his contract.
Nick De Marco KC, representing Mendy, confirmed the legal pursuit in a statement to Sky Sports News. The claim revolves around “multi-million-pound” compensation for alleged unauthorized wage deductions.
