3 feared dead as Gov Umahi’s convoy rams into moving motorcycle in Ebonyi

 

On Tuesday, at least three residents of Ezza South Local Government Area were killed when the convoy of Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi collided with their motorbike.

 

The victims were on the road leading to Muhammadu Buhari’s international airport when they were struck by an advance team.

It was determined that the convoy had dropped off Umahi at the Onueke airport and was returning to the city when the incident occurred.

The accident occurred shortly after the dedication of the Prince Arthur Eze-named flyover at Abaomege in the Onicha local government area.

 

Together with Governor Umahi, Prince Arthur Eze commissioned the flyover.

 

The governor reportedly left for Abuja shortly after the inauguration ceremony.

Prince Arthur Eze and Eric Kelechi Igwe, the state’s deputy governor, however, stepped down at the accident scene and consoled the families of the victims, ordered that the victims be rushed to the hospital and then sped off to Enugu State.

 

At the time of filing this report, the victims’ motorbike and the involved Sienna were irreparably damaged, but their identities and the registration number of the misfortunate vehicle have yet to be determined.

Uche Chukwura, the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Ebonyi State, said she had not yet been briefed on the accident when contacted for confirmation.
