ASUU re-elects Osodeke as National President

 

In the early hours of Monday morning, members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities re-elected Professor Emmanuel Osodeke unopposed as their National President for the next two years.

 

In addition to Osodeke of the Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Abia State, the union members re-elected Chris Piwuna, a Consultant Psychiatrist and Associate Professor at the University of Jos’ College of Medicine, as Vice President.

They were re-elected at the 22nd National Delegates Conference of ASUU, which was held between May 19 and 21, 2023 at the University of Jos in Plateau State.

 

Other National Officers of ASUU re-elected at the conference include Prof. Siji Sowande (Treasurer), Prof. Ade Adejumo (Financial Secretary), Dr. Austen Sado (Investment Secretary), Dr. Adamu Babayo (Internal Auditor), and Dr. Aisha Bawa, who replaced Dr. Stella-Maris Okey as Welfare Secretary.

 

Osodeke, who spoke with our correspondent en route to Abuja following the National Delegates Conference, deemed it a success.

 

He stated, “Our national delegates’ conference has concluded in Jos.” It was fruitful. We are currently returning to Abuja. When we return to our station, we will issue a statement regarding the conference, my re-election, and other national officers. Thank you”
