A Federal High Court in Kano, presided over by Justice M N Yunusa, has nullified the candidatures of the Governor-elect of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, and all Labour Party candidates in Abia and Kano States.
The court ruled that their emergence was not in accordance with the electoral act of 2022.
A copy of the court’s verdict was obtained on Friday morning.
The Court in Case No. FHC/KN/CS/107/2023, filed by Mr. Ibrahim Haruna Ibrahim against the Labour Party and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, ruled that the process is invalid because the Labour Party failed to submit its membership register to INEC within thirty days prior to their primaries.
