The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) categorically denied recent reports circulating in certain circles suggesting that the Nigerian Military was approached with a request to stage a coup against the democratic government of the nation.
In an official statement released on Sunday, DHQ, represented by the Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, firmly clarified that the Armed Forces of Nigeria had not received any communication requesting a change in the country’s political leadership. General Gusau also pointed out that those propagating such assertions are individuals who harbor ill intent towards the nation.

In the statement, General Gusau stated, “The Defence Headquarters is deeply concerned by the dissemination of a false and troubling narrative via social media platforms, falsely suggesting that the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) received a request to orchestrate a change in the nation’s leadership.”
