DSS Arrests Journalist for Reporting on Alleged Impeachment Moves Against Senate President Akpabio.
On Friday, Edna Ulaeto, a journalist with OrderPaper, was arrested by operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) during a raid on her home. Reports indicate that armed and masked officers forcibly entered her residence, mishandling her before taking her to an undisclosed location.
According to a statement from OrderPaper, neighbours who attempted to intervene were threatened and forced to delete any recordings of the incident. Eyewitness accounts describe the arrest as violent, with Ulaeto still dressed in her nightwear at the time of her detention .

The arrest is reportedly linked to a recent article by OrderPaper that mistakenly reported on a DSS operation at the National Assembly, suggesting it was aimed at preventing the impeachment of Senate President Godswill Akpabio.
Despite the newspaper’s retraction and public apology, the DSS proceeded with the arrest, which has raised concerns over press freedom and the treatment of journalists in Nigeria .
