Breaking: Fubara Locks Rivers State for Two Days Over Local Govt Election
Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has declared public holidays on Thursday, October 3, and Friday, October 4, 2024, in preparation for the local government elections scheduled for October 5.
In a statewide broadcast, Fubara also announced a total lockdown of human and vehicular movement into, within, and out of the state from midnight on October 4 until 5:00 p.m. on election day, October 5.

The governor explained that the move is aimed at ensuring all registered voters can travel to their communities to cast their votes. Security forces have been directed to enforce the restriction and arrest any violators.
