Security concerns in Nigeria’s South-East have deepened as gunmen recently abducted a retired Major-General, identified as Maj Gen RC Duru (rtd), in the Orji General area of Owerri North Local Government Area, Imo State.

The incident unfolded over the weekend when Maj Gen Duru, who had retired from military service, found himself in a harrowing situation. He was driving a black Mercedes Benz ML jeep when gunmen ambushed him in a brazen act of criminality.

According to reports, the retired Major-General was abducted by four individuals who arrived in a Toyota Sienna vehicle. Shockingly, the kidnappers also made off with his vehicle, further complicating the situation.

A signal obtained by SaharaReporters revealed details of the incident, stating, “The kidnappers went with his vehicle, and checkpoints were informed. His phone (08033567459) was tracked to Mba Itoli in Imo State before it was switched off.”

Efforts are currently underway to locate the kidnappers and secure the safe return of the retired General. Authorities and concerned individuals are urged to discreetly utilize all available contacts to expedite the resolution of this distressing situation.
