In a related development, earlier on Saturday morning, explosives were detonated at the All Progressives Congress (APC) office along Aba Road in Port Harcourt. The explosion damaged the gate, doors, windows, and other properties at the party’s secretariat. This is not the first time the APC office has been targeted by such attacks, which have added to the already tense atmosphere surrounding the local government elections.

The elections have been marred by conflict between the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the APC, with both parties accusing each other of electoral misconduct. Despite the violence and tension, the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) has affirmed that the elections will proceed as scheduled.
