Simisola of Lala: ICPC arrests woman for alleged connivance with bankers to divert new Naira notes
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, or ICPC, has reportedly arrested a woman named Simisola for allegedly selling redesigned Naira banknotes via social media.

Mrs. Azuka Ogugua, the spokesperson for the ICPC, said in a statement released on Wednesday that the suspect with the Twitter handle @Simisola of Lala is conspiring with some elements of the financial system to divert the new notes.
According to the spokesperson, the suspect was arrested as a result of information gathered by commission agents.
She stated that the suspect was allegedly taking advantage of the scarcity of new naira notes to sell them to Nigerians openly.

“It is believed that she is conspiring with key elements of the financial services industry to divert newly printed currency away from banks and payment channels and onto the ‘black market,'” she said.
Despite assurances from the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, the entire nation is currently struggling with a shortage of the redesigned Naira notes.
