IGP, Usman Alkali Baba replaces Adamawa CP over gov poll

 

Usman Baba, the Inspector General of Police (IGP), has given the immediate withdrawal order for Mohammed Barde, the Adamawa State Commissioner of Police who is on election duty.

 

The IGP also mandated that CP Etim Equa, the Gombe State-based commissioner of police, leave right away for Adamawa State to oversee election security for the upcoming supplementary governorship election.

Muyiwa Adejobi, the Force’s public relations officer, stated that the IGP is committed to a free and fair process in an interview with journalists on Tuesday in Abuja.

 

The Independent National Electoral Commission, or INEC, had previously reconvened at the state collation centre in Yola, the capital of Adamawa State.

In the midst of a sizable security presence, the officials reconvened,

 

Adamu Gujungu, the state’s INEC administrative secretary, who has been tasked with replacing Hudu Yunusa Ari, the misbehaving resident electoral commissioner, was spotted at the collation site.

 

Festus Okoye, the National Commissioner for INEC and the Chairman of the Information and Voter Education Committee, is anticipated at the collation facility.
