INEC postpones governorship and state house assembly elections
Emerging reports indicate that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has postponed Saturday’s governorship and state assembly elections to March 18, 2023.
INEC’s decision is coming a few days before the March 11 date earlier scheduled for the state elections.

It was gathered that the postponement was due to the inability of the commission to commence the re-configuration of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines used for the February 25 presidential and National Assembly elections, to enable their use for the state elections.

Both the INEC National Commissioner in charge of the Information and Voter Education Committee, Festus Okoye and the Chief Press Secretary to the INEC Chairman, Mr Rotimi Oyekanmi were not immediately available for comments.
