Tragic Loss Strikes: Chairman and Vice Chairman Pass Away Days Apart.
Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State is currently grappling with shock and sorrow as its Chairman and Vice Chairman tragically lose their lives within a few days of each other.
The untimely demise of these two key officials has cast a dark cloud over the local government, leaving its residents in mourning and deep grief.
The first to pass away was Bankole Ogbesetore, the Chairman of the local council, who succumbed to an undisclosed illness after battling it since last year.
Following this heartbreaking news, acting governor of the state, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, paid a condolence visit to the late Chairman’s residence last week, offering his sympathies.
However, the council was struck by another wave of sorrow just a few days after Aiyedatiwa’s visit. On July 16, 2023, exactly seven days after Ogbesetore’s demise, the Vice Chairman, Anthony Adebusola, also passed away.
The tragic events have left the local government community overwhelmed by a mixture of grief and sadness.
It has been revealed that Adebusola, prior to his passing, had also been battling an undisclosed illness.
Confirming these distressing developments, Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye, a political leader in the area and former Commissioner for Sports and Youth Development, expressed his sorrow, stating, “With great sadness and pain, I am here once again to announce the tragic death of our council vice chairman, Hon. Anthony Adebusola. This unfortunate event occurred yesterday following a brief illness.
It is heart-wrenching that we lost both our elected council chairman and his amiable, loyal vice chairman within one week.”
“Like a bad movie, so sad a story. I can’t understand and I urge you all to pray for us and the family members the two of them left behind.”
