NLC Finally Meets FG Over Petrol Subsidy Removal

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) is currently meeting with federal government representatives. The meeting is a consequence of the removal of the petrol subsidy.

On Monday at approximately 5:45 p.m., Joe Ajaero, president of the NLC, and his team arrived at the presidential villa.

The Nigerian Labour Congress did not attend Sunday’s meeting between government representatives and organised labour.

However, Trade Union Congress (TUC) representatives were in attendance.

In his inaugural address on May 29, President Bola Tinubu declared that “petrol subsidies have been eliminated.”

The president’s announcement resulted in an immediate return of lines at gas stations and a nationwide increase in the price of the product at the pump.

Subsequently, the government team met with organized labour, but the meeting ended in stalemate and was rescheduled for Monday, June 5.

Meanwhile, Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) candidate, has insisted that he won the last presidential election, despite Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) being declared the victor.

Obi, who continued his case before the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) in Abuja on Monday, June 5, submitted additional presidential election results from eight states.

The five-member panel led by Justice Haruna Tsammani admitted the results from Ebonyi, Nasarawa, Delta, Kaduna, Imo, Ondo, Sokoto, and Kogi as evidence.
