Godwin Obaseki, who recently concluded his second term as Governor of Edo State on November 11, 2024, has embarked on a medical vacation for extended health check-ups and rest.
This information was disclosed by Obaseki’s Media Adviser, Crusoe Osagie, in a statement to Naija News on Wednesday night. Osagie conveyed Obaseki’s gratitude, stating that the former governor appreciated the support of the people of Edo State and Nigeria during his tenure.

Obaseki expressed, “I am grateful to God Almighty and to the people of Edo State for the opportunity to serve. I urge all Edo indigenes, both at home and abroad, to continue to remain hopeful and pray for the peace, progress, and prosperity of our State and Nigeria.”
Edo Governor Okpebholo Swears In SSG, Attorney-General
Barely 24 hours into his tenure, the new Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, has swiftly appointed key officials, including the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and the Attorney-General.
Naija News reports that on Wednesday, Okpebholo swore in Musa Ikhilor as SSG and Barrister Samson Osagie as the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice. The appointments came shortly after Okpebholo’s swearing-in on Tuesday, with Ikhilor and Osagie’s nominations announced almost immediately.
During the ceremony, Governor Okpebholo emphasized his commitment to delivering on his campaign promises and urged the new appointees to focus on serving the people of Edo State.
He remarked, “I was elected to work, and I expect everyone to be ready to deliver. I chose these appointees based on their proven integrity and commitment. Our best is yet to come.”
