One dead, palace in flames in Ikirun over renewed Akinrun kingship tussle
A portion of the palace of the Akinrun of Ikirun caught fire on Wednesday. This comes as the struggle for obaship in the ancient town takes a turn for the worse.
This Online Newspaper gathered that one person, identified as Lukuman Omoola, has reportedly been shot dead also as a result of the renewed crisis that is related to the Akinrun of Ikirun stool. This is the case as a result of the fact that this information is coming in.
According to the information gathered, a crisis broke out on Wednesday as a result of purported preparations to smuggle the next Akinrun, Oba Olalekan Akadiri, into the palace.
Reportedly a descendant of the Gboleru Ruling House, which was one of the judgement families contending for the right to sit on the royal stool prior to an Osun High Court ruling that gave it to the Obaara Ruling House, the late monarch was a member of the Obaara Ruling House.

After the Osun State Government appointed Prince Yinusa Olalekan Akadiri as the Akinrun, he allegedly led other persons to the town to gain access to the palace, which resulted in the renewed Ikirun obaship tussle that was rocking the town. This resulted in the town being shaken to its foundations.
People in the town, including chiefs and the head of the kingmakers, did not agree with the Osun State Government’s decision to appoint Akadiri as the Akinrun.
He was also prevented from entering the palace from the second day after his declaration as the new king, which resulted in the staff of office being presented to him in the State Government Secretariat by the state government.
