He emphasized that the provision for the yacht originated from the Nigerian Navy, which likely had operational reasons behind its inclusion in the budget.
Furthermore, Ajayi highlighted the need for the Budget Office to provide explanations to the public regarding such expenditures, particularly in light of the country’s current economic situation.
He underscored the importance of accurate reporting, urging journalists to contribute to public enlightenment rather than create an atmosphere of misperception.

Ajayi also cautioned against oversimplification of State House budgetary provisions, urging media outlets to refrain from attributing all allocations to the President and Vice President.
He pointed out that provisions for vehicles, food, and catering services are often mischaracterized in headlines, emphasizing that these allocations serve a broader purpose, including hosting state events, VIPs, foreign dignitaries, and various high-level meetings.
In conclusion, Ajayi’s statement aims to provide context and clarity surrounding the supplementary budget, particularly the contentious provision for a presidential yacht.
The spokesperson emphasized the importance of accurate reporting and urged for a more nuanced understanding of budgetary allocations within the State House.
