President Bola Tinubu has dismissed Chioma Ejikeme as the Executive Secretary of the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD), just 13 months after renewing her appointment.
In a statement released on Monday, November 18, by PTAD’s spokesperson Olugbenga Ajayi, Tinubu announced the appointment of Tolulope Abiodun Odunaiya as Ejikeme’s replacement. However, the statement did not provide reasons for Ejikeme’s removal.
New Leadership at PTAD
Tolulope Odunaiya has officially assumed her role as the new Executive Secretary of PTAD, beginning her tenure on Monday at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja. During her first day, Odunaiya was warmly received by the management and staff. She held a meeting to outline her vision for the directorate, emphasizing her commitment to building on the achievements of her predecessors.
Odunaiya highlighted her desire to foster a collaborative and supportive environment where staff feel empowered and motivated to contribute to the welfare of pensioners.
Commitment to Pensioners’ Welfare
Speaking on her vision, Odunaiya reiterated her dedication to improving the lives of pensioners. She acknowledged their contributions to Nigeria’s history and development, pledging to ensure they receive the care, respect, and timely entitlements they deserve.
“My goal aligns with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which envisions a prosperous Nigeria where all citizens feel valued and supported. To achieve this, I will prioritize efficiency, accountability, and compassion in PTAD’s operations,” she stated.
Odunaiya also conducted an extensive tour of PTAD’s departments and units to gain firsthand knowledge of the agency’s processes. This approach reflects her intention to make data-driven decisions aimed at fostering long-term progress.
Background on Ejikeme’s Removal
Chioma Ejikeme’s dismissal comes after serving just over a year of her second term, which began in October 2023. While the federal government has remained silent on the specifics of her removal, the change signals a renewed direction under Tinubu’s administration.
