President Bola Tinubu has officially enacted the Students Loan Bill, as revealed by Mr. Dele Alake, a member of the Presidential Strategic Team, during a press briefing in Abuja.
Alake, accompanied by other media team members, including Tunde Rahman and Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, along with David Adejoh, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, announced that the new legislation fulfills one of President Tinubu’s electoral promises.

Addressing concerns about potential inflation of school fees, Alake emphasized that the two issues are unrelated. He clarified that the objective behind the law is to assist financially disadvantaged students in obtaining education within the country.
“We are pleased to inform you that a few minutes ago, His Excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the President, signed into law the Student Loans Bill. This bill represents the realization of a commitment made by candidate Tinubu during the presidential campaign to prioritize student loans.

Today, that promise has been fulfilled, and the bill has been enacted. It will now enable our financially disadvantaged students to access federal government loans to support their educational pursuits and careers. This approach is consistent with practices adopted in developed nations worldwide,” he stated.
