Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun to be sworn in as Chief Justice of Nigeria by President Bola Tinubu.
President Bola Tinubu will, on Friday, August 23, 2024, officially swear in Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as the new Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).
This development follows the retirement of Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, who has concluded a distinguished career in public service.

In a statement released on Thursday by the presidential spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, President Tinubu congratulated Justice Ariwoola on his retirement, acknowledging his contributions to the Nigerian judiciary.
Ariwoola, who served as a Justice of the Court of Appeal in the Kaduna, Enugu, and Lagos Divisions, was elevated to the Supreme Court in 2011. He ascended to the position of CJN in 2022.
During his tenure, Justice Ariwoola was recognized for his impactful leadership and his significant role in shaping Nigerian jurisprudence.

His efforts in strengthening the legal framework of the nation were particularly lauded by President Tinubu, who expressed gratitude for the retiring jurist’s dedication and service to the country.
“The President thanks Justice Ariwoola and wishes him the very best for the future,” the statement read.
The swearing-in ceremony for Justice Kekere-Ekun is scheduled to take place at the State House Council Chambers, marking a new chapter for the Nigerian judiciary under her leadership
