Two Burnt In Anambra Road Mishap
An unregistered Mack truck laden with PMS and an Urban shuttle bus with no registration number collided along the Onitsha-Awka expressway in Anambra State on Tuesday, burning two male adults beyond recognition. The accident happened about 10:00 a.m.
An eyewitness said the tanker driver was speeding when he lost control and slammed into the shuttle from behind, adding that the truck exploded, crashed, and both vehicles caught fire.
According to our source, the accident involved five male adults, three of whom were unharmed.
The fire was put out by the Federal Road Safety Commission’s operatives, according to Margaret B. Onabe, acting sector public education officer, Anambra State Command.
The FRSC crew from RS5.33 Nteje unit command handed over the dead victims to the police, she said.
Meanwhile, while expressing condolences to the families of the deceased, Mr Adeoye Irelewuyi, sector commander, FRSC, Anambra State, warned motorists to avoid over-speeding and adhere to the recommended speed limit.
