“The Jigawa state commissioner for special duties, on behalf of Governor Malam Umar Namadi, provided 594 pieces of 25kg bags of rice as a heartfelt Christmas gift,” explained Rev. Father Hassan during the distribution.
The CAN chairman emphasized the importance of fairness in distributing the rice, ensuring that it reached all Christians across the state’s 27 local government areas. He highlighted the significance of prioritizing the less privileged, especially widows and orphans, in the distribution process.
“We encourage fairness and equity in the sharing process. Let them emphasize the fewer privileges, especially the widows and orphans, as we told them in our meeting,” urged Rev. Father Hassan.
Expressing gratitude to President Tinubu and Governor Malam Umar Namadi for this unprecedented gesture, Rev. Father Hassan described it as a first-of-its-kind initiative that brought joy to the community.
However, he also appealed for an increase in quantity for future distributions, considering the sizable Christian population in Jigawa.
Mrs. Debora Maina Markus, the state secretary for the Jigawa CAN women’s wing, echoed appreciation for President Tinubu’s thoughtful palliative. She emphasized the tradition of giving special consideration to widows and orphans in their disbursal, ensuring that the vulnerable segments of the community received due attention.
