The secret Police had unsuccessfully sought a three-week detention order for the suspects.
However, the court provided the agency with one week to initiate its investigation.
Peter Afunanya, the spokesman for the secret police, revealed Thursday morning that Sharu Abubakar Tabula and Isma’il Iliyasu Mangu were apprehended after separately recording and sharing inciting messages on various social media platforms.
Afunanya, who also shared the inciting video with Ejes Gist News Nigeria, stated that while the Service warns the public of this planned illegal action, it urges the involved party to abandon it immediately or face the consequences.
He added, “In these potentially damaging messages, they advocated for specific political interests and directly called on their supporters to violently attack their opponents, including security personnel, during the 18th March 2023 elections for the Governorship and House of Assembly in the State.”
