Court Issues Bench Warrant Against Anambra House Member-Elect, Augustine Ike
A Federal High Court in Awka has issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Hon. Augustine Ike, also known as Ikedoji, a member-elect of the House of Assembly representing the Nnewi North Constituency.
Also, another Onyedika Chukwuma was discovered to be evading capture, as the warrant required them to appear in court for arraignment.

The warrant was specifically addressed to Usman Alkali Baba, the Inspector General of Police.
The order was issued by Justice F.O. Riman after the court described their refusal to be served with the Charge against them by Baba.
Since March 29, 2023, when the police concluded their investigation of Hon. Ike and Chukwuma and indicted them, the pair have refused to appear in court and have been on the run.
The development has hampered the court’s ability to serve them with the indictment.
The Court further stated that it will not assume jurisdiction to begin hearing the charge unless the defendants are served and that the only remaining option is for the Court to issue an arrest warrant to the IGP.
The Honourable Augustine Ike has been elected to represent Nnewi North in the Anambra State House of Assembly. His arraignment alongside Onyedika Chukwuma may not be unrelated to a petition filed to the IGP by Dr. Cletus Ibeto, a billionaire businessman.

The 11 count order filled at the Federal High Court Awka by Anthony Egwu Esq, the Prosecuting counsel to the IGP, Mr Augustine Ike and Onyedika Chukwuma were alleged to have committed a criminal offence through the use of cyber stalking by using a computer system to send messages on Facebook and WhatsApp, in which they published that Dr. Cletus Ibeto is a “land grabber who wants to defraud Nnewi Community of their land, surrounds himself with thieves, criminals, armed robbers and have been rejected by universal God”.
