A Federal High Court in Abuja has cleared them of the charges.
In a decision on Monday, Justice Inyang Ekwo agreed with the defendants’ claim that the charge was not fair.

Justice Ekwo said that the EFCC broke the law when it went ahead with the criminal case against Okorocha and others even though it had been told not to by the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF).

The judge ruled that the EFCC, like all other law enforcement and prosecution agencies, had to follow the advice of the AGF when deciding whether or not to bring a case against a suspected criminal.

Justice Ekwo said that because the EFCC didn’t follow the AGF’s order that it send the case file in the case involving Okorocha and others for review, the criminal case the EFCC started against Okorocha and others was invalid.

The judge threw out the case and released the defendants: Okorocha, Nyerere Chinyere, Naphtali International Ltd, Perfect Finish Multi Projects Ltd, Consolid Projects Consulting Ltd, Pramif International Ltd, and Legend World Concepts Ltd.
