CSOs Takes to the Streets as Economic Woes Deepen in Edo State
The mass protest unfolding on the streets of Benin City, Edo State, organized by Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to address the economic hardships in Nigeria, is gaining momentum.
Members of these CSOs have flooded the streets brandishing placards with messages such as “Put an End to Economic Hardship” and “Federal Government, Address the Hunger Crisis in Nigeria Immediately.”
This demonstration echoes similar concerns voiced by residents of Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State. The “Take It Back Movement,” a human rights group, also staged a protest in Lagos, denouncing exorbitant food prices and the overall high cost of living.
Despite warnings from Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Adegoke Fayoade, the Lagos protest proceeded.
