Former SSG, Dan Shere, many others abducted in Enugu
Dr. Dan Shere, a former secretary to the Enugu State government, has been kidnapped.
He was one of numerous passengers kidnapped on Thursday along the Enugu-Ugwuogo Nike-Nsukka Road, this online news outlet has learned.
The former governor Chimaroke Nnamani’s administration included Shere, a doctor.
The lawmaker from Enugu was being attacked alongside other travellers while travelling to Nsukka for a conference, a source told our correspondent.
The attackers, according to one of the witnesses who posted a video of the incident, numbered around eight people.

“They fired several shots at our car, striking one of us. But our driver was able to continue. He told and thanked God for sparing him and four other people from the same village as he described how they were able to transport the victim to the hospital.
Meanwhile, it was learned that the alleged Fulani herdsmen kidnappers have raised the ransom demands for the victims they had earlier chosen on Sunday.
“They initially requested N2 million from one of the victims, but they have since escalated their demand to N30 million. To find out the victims’ status, they scan their phones, the source claimed.
Returning University of Nigeria, Nsukka students who were kidnapped on Sunday are still being held captive.
As of the time this story was filed, a message addressed to DSP Daniel Ndukwe, the police public relations officer for the Enugu State Police Command, went unanswered.
