Oladapo Oyebanji, better known as Dbanj, is a popular Nigerian singer who has urged the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to conduct a thorough investigation while admonishing the public to avoid falling victim to media sensationalism.
He bemoaned the media’s glut of stories about him being held by the ICPC due to unproven fraud allegations.

He asserted that it is now essential to issue a statement in order to provide clarity and correct misinformation.
This information was included in a statement released on Wednesday by Maryam El-Yakub Musa, Dbanj’s legal counsel.
Remember that the ICPC confirmed Dbanj’s arrest and detention on Wednesday in connection with the investigation of fraud involving the N-Power Program.
Dbanj asserted, however, that he has no formal or informal relationships of any kind with any individuals or organisations inside or outside the Government.

The following quote from the statement was included: “It is instructive to state first that the report regarding the arrest and detention of Mr. Daniel Oladapo Oyebanjo is misconceived, malicious, and prejudicial to the justice system anywhere in the world, and we would advise the general public to be well-informed.
“For the record, Dbanj has no such contractual or incidental relationship with any organisation or individual within or outside the Government regarding the disbursement, operations, access, or control of the operation of any Government fund through an Agency or its Subsidiaries.
“Dbanj has encouraged the Commission to conduct its investigation completely to ensure that individuals trying to implicate him in such absurd activities must be held accountable.
