The human right group described the act as barbaric and undemocratic stressing that it is a gross violation of the fundamental human rights of the affected individuals and a clear indication of the government’s disregard for the well-being and safety of its citizens.

The group in a statement by its secretary Mr. Martins Akpore said ” The Delta Indigenes Initiative for Good Leadership is deeply concerned that no information has been provided regarding the whereabouts of the arrested individuals, and we declare this a kidnap case. The lack of transparency and accountability from the government and security agencies is unacceptable and only serves to exacerbate the situation.”

DIIGL holds the state government responsible for its failure to act or defend its citizens. The government’s inaction in the face of such brazen violations of human rights is a dereliction of its primary responsibility to protect its citizens.
