DIIGL Endorses August 1st Protest Against Hardship and Bad Governance
The Delta Indigenes Initiative for Good Leadership (DIIGL), a leading human rights advocacy organization, has officially endorsed the nationwide protest scheduled for August 1st. The protest aims to address the severe hardship, inflation, and economic collapse under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
In a statement signed by Board of Trustees Chairman, General Ejiwealth Emareyo, DIIGL expressed its full support for the protest and urged Nigerians to exercise their fundamental right to peaceful assembly and protest.

“DIIGL officially endorses the Nationwide August 1st Protest Against Hardship, Inflation, and Economic Collapse under President Bola Tinubu,” the statement read.
While endorsing the protest, DIIGL warned politicians against disrupting the peaceful demonstrations with thugs, as seen during the ENDSARS protests. The organization also called on the Nigerian police to protect protesters and not allow themselves to be used by politicians to attack citizens exercising their right to peaceful protest.

“Every Nigerian has the right to protest peacefully, and it’s the duty of the Nigerian police and security agencies to protect protesters, not intimidate or harm them,” General Emareyo stated.
DIIGL emphasized the importance of maintaining law and order during the protest, urging citizens to demonstrate peacefully without resorting to property destruction.
“We call on the police to be law-abiding and citizens to protest peacefully without destroying properties,” the statement concluded.
