In the fast-paced currency fluctuations, the Naira experienced a downturn against the dollar, settling at N1,625/$1 at the parallel market, reflecting a slight depreciation from the previous day. The Great Britain Pound (GBP) also exerted pressure, hitting N2050, a 7.32% decrease compared to the prior rate of N1,900.

 

 

At the official window, the Naira depreciated to N1,602.43/$1, attributing this decline to persistent demand for dollars since January. Financial experts advocate for measures to curb volatility, with the CBN introducing strategies for transparency and stability.

 

Economist Dr. Nnaemeka Onyeka Obiaraeri suggests addressing the corruption-driven demand for dollars, emphasizing local production as a long-term solution for economic resilience.
