Drama as El-Rufai’s Wife Questions Son Over Tinubu vs Obasanjo Debate
Hadiza El-Rufai, the wife of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, has sparked reactions on social media by publicly questioning her son, Bashir El-Rufai, over his comments regarding the ongoing exchange of words between President Bola Tinubu and former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Bashir Criticizes Presidency’s Response to Obasanjo
Bashir El-Rufai condemned the presidency for attacking Obasanjo following the latter’s criticism of President Tinubu’s administration. Obasanjo had recently called out Tinubu’s government for its economic policies and advocated for a reform of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
In response, the presidency, through spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, labeled Obasanjo’s comments as hypocritical, urging him to reflect on his alleged failures in office rather than criticize Tinubu.
Reacting to the development, Bashir criticized the presidency’s approach, stating:
“Attacking Obasanjo with the state of the country now has to be a mental illness permeating the whole media comms team. Inflation is at 33%.”
Hadiza Questions Bashir’s Perspective
Hadiza El-Rufai, however, challenged her son’s stance, suggesting that his opinion might have been different if his father were part of Tinubu’s administration. She publicly asked on Twitter:
“Are you sure you’d be saying this if your father were part of this government?”

Tinubu vs Obasanjo: The Ongoing Saga
The clash between Tinubu and Obasanjo has intensified, with the former president accusing Tinubu’s administration of sluggish economic reforms. The presidency fired back, urging Obasanjo to stop undermining other administrations.
