DSS Breaks Silence on Suspended CBN Governor as His Whereabouts Remain Unknown

The Department of State Services (DSS) has stated that the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, is not currently in its custody. Reports of Emefiele’s arrest circulated shortly after his suspension by President Bola Tinubu.

Emefiele’s suspension was attributed to the ongoing investigation of his office and planned reforms in the financial sector, as stated in a release by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume. Additionally, Tinubu appointed Mr. Folashodun Adebisi Shonubi as the acting Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria.

However, in a tweet shared on Saturday, the DSS refuted the claims, stating that Emefiele is not currently in their custody. This revelation has left Emefiele’s whereabouts unknown and has sparked further curiosity and speculation.

An inside source has affirmed that the embattled CBN governor is currently undergoing interrogation in a secret DSS office.
